Not necessary anymore.
My other question: do I have to use the actual betaversion 3 of the StockPack or may I use my "old" 2.2 Build 1.45 version for online racing? |

my clanmate does play in glide mode with this OS

Also if you would like. You cant with IPL
When you join a game with IPL your cars and tracklist will be automatically set to the one is set on the server. For example EP Cars and mod1 tracklist file.
When you host a server with IPL you have to choose cars and tracks also.
With custom cars you can only drive with the classic method. Hosting in-game with TCP/IP and joining with IP.

I think you can still drive with EP2.
I think they'll change when EP3 gets final. not before. |

Sorry to quote a fairly old post, but about Rusty Springs for NFS HS, what about this ?

As the author, Paul EL, explains in the readme, this is not an exact conversion from TNFS like most of the others are. It's based on RyanT's Egypt and attempts to get as close to the original as possible.
I think I posted this at least once in one of the NFBS threads a few years ago when we were discussing suggestions for the EP, but after reading through this thread I thought I'd bring it up again.

I only have three requests for any new non Beta expansion, and those are:
1. Get rid of the sound glitches found on various mod tracks, they're annoying and completely fade out the audio music
2. Add on all point to point tracks from the first NFS, those include City, Coastal and especially Alpine. Also, Transtropolis and Burnt Siena on NFS 4 would be pretty sweet. The NFS 6 courses, specifically Coastal and Tropical would be amazing on NFS 4.
3. Get IP Lounge 3 (or even better; IPL 4) up and running for use. Would be much better, Porsche Unleashed online players get it, why not us?

TY so much Remko. I'll look into this
Point 2 Point track is possible, it was explained somewhere how to do this. I guess it was the readme of T3ED itself. But with some facts you must know.
For example you cant drive them backwards.
Burnt Sienna and Transtropolis would be absolutely great as mentioned before.
But I still dont understand why it isnt possible anymore?
You say you had a converter and it got lost? Why it got lost?
NFS 6 tracks in NFS 4 you can wait forever
It is even impossible to edit trackshape in NFS 6 itself.
You would have to rebuild the tracks in NFS 4 which is not possible if you want exactly the same shape. |

1. Yes, we know. We can do nothing about this. Turn down your sound effects on particularly troublesome tracks.
There is some sound info stored in track files, but there is sound data stored somewhere else as well, somewhere the mixer does not manipulate. Try Celtic Ruins on mod 8 (you should hear EC sound effects) and you'll see that it's not all stored in the track files. (I personally think its hard-coded into the exe somewhere, but thats just a guess)
2. Point-to-point tracks do not work well in NFS4. To make them work, you have to stretch the first block to be part of the finish line, thereby triggering a 'lap' when you drive over it at the finish line. 4 and 8 lap races don't usually work, and as Demon said, you can't drive them backwards. In my opinion this makes them unacceptable for online play, and therefore the EP.
I've personally looked into converting HP2 tracks to HS. They don't fit well; they break some pretty fundamental aspects that are common among all HS tracks. I can extract the track shape, but there is a lot of info that I don't know how to obtain e.g. polygon drive-over behaviour and texture mapping, for starters. I may work on a rough conversion in the future, but don't hold your breath.
3. Basically, we were quite late in getting JMac some info he needed for IPL3 that had to do with stats capture. I hope it will be useful for IPL4. IPL3 also scans all the files and directories for specific files; this is tricky when you take into account that because of the EP, all the tracks and cars are being moved around.
Sorry to put it like this, but there is only so much we can do. I 'm just trying to explain why these features aren't likely to make it into a future EP, or why they aren't in it yet.
@Impski:
There are a lot people in mod communities that use the EP. I bet 80% of the people using the EP have never even launched IPL.
So that's why we get a lot of requests from people that we seldom or never see in IPL.
Not that I believe that we should cater to these people specifically; to me, the EP is always about online racing first. If something will screw up the online racing part of the game, it will never make it into the EP. _________________

I think unBtable is right if something doesn't work online we shouldn't add it to the EP.
To the sound glitches, I'm still unsure were the sound effect's are stored. That's why I never tried to manipulate them.
I think many who installed the EP have also installed the IPLounge, but never logged in, because they got no account. I could add a default login account to the actual SP/EP. Maybe a user "TestLogin" or something like that. That would give people an easy access to IPL to try it out. Maybe it could be an account without stats, that no one could be kicked out of Top 50 from it. _________________

In my opinion as a fan of Impreza current Impreza just isnt good at all.
And offcorse optional request, but if it can be done would be great, the things is i dont know how many of you know that in TNFS was actualy Mazda RX-7 and why they removed it from next NFS titles, while they got it back only in Underground. RX-7 represent a massive rotary power engine which is still a powerfull torque close to a bikes

| I think where we lose IPL registered-users-to-be most is the registration process in IPL2. I look forward to IPL4's integration with HS, and hopefully a more user-friendly way to register (ex: Currently, I need to use IPL3 to register because I get no e-mail, and the "help" link in IPL2 points to a dead site) |

Sounds like a good idea to me. The TestLogin user could just be 'banned' from HOSS (as if it were a real racer that is cheating). Can KillRide or Creamer confirm whether this stops points from being accumulated? I'm pretty certain it at least invalidates ratings, doesn't it?
I agree with FM7, the registration process for IPL2 is basically broken. I think that confuses a lot of people. We can't do much about it, but the TestLogin account could help folks get into the lounge so we can help them.
@Impski:
I'll have a look at those cars in the next few days, I hope.
I'm not sure about replacing the Impreza though, as I believe it is either an official EA addon, or included with some international versions of the game. If we take it out, it may not work for some racers, I believe.
It may work out as an addition, though. We'll have to see.
