has anyone got HS, PU or HP2 to work on this build?

I didn't do an in-place upgrade, wiped and fresh install.
installation works and installs the games fine. IPL runs fine, but the games have issues

HP2 gives me the graphics couldn't be initiated error
HS just gives me a black screen
PU does nothing LOL Idea Question

My present situation with all three games on Win 10 1607 at the moment:
HS & PU only run with nGlide - but that is more to do with my hardware that OS.
HP2 fully working - but full screen mode can behave strangely, so I generally use windowed mode.

I'm wondering if it worth to keep fighting with or just use my VM again.

Upon installing HS I did get an error at the end of the installation

but other that it installed fine. I ran the EP install pack then tried to launch the game. it went to just a black screen. So I had to edit the direct X under

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes\3dSetup

change the drop down to Voodoo then made these changes

after that change HS was working fine.

On to PU.
Game installed fine, used IPLOUONGE to fix all errors, AND install the win10 fix.
tried to launch game once scan was all green. the app crashed, Crashed so bad it filled my event log.

I set up the directX and did the same steps as HS, but it still crashed, so I got creative.

made a backup of dx7z.dll and a copy of voodoo2z.dll, renamed the voodoo2z.dll copy to dx7z.dll

after that, launched the game and all is well.

NOW for HP2

installed the game Fine,
use IPL to apply no cd Patch

I get "failed initializing graphics"

IF I disable my video card and reboot I can play the game. But I MUST reboot after disabling. So I'm still working at this, thinking its a driver issue.

Hey Lix, did you solve?

I suspect that when you upgrade to Windows 10 from previous Windows versions, old DirectX components stay installed in order not to disrupt existing applications and games, but when you clean install Windows 10 maybe not all componets of previous DX versions get installed.

This is only an out loud thought because I haven't checked actually, but it seems that people that upgraded had better chances to get HP2 working.

Anyway, if your hardware is not too old you could give dgVoodoo a try.

Good luck.
